REDUCE THE HAZARDS OF LEFTOVERS BY NOT WASTING FOOD EVERY DAY!

With the improvement of living standards, people’s daily meals are quite plentiful. This is undoubtedly good for people but at the same time there is negative impact which is leftovers. Leftovers are double hazard to people. Let’s take a look in detail.

A large amount of discarded leftovers cause environmental pollution. Food waste contributes carbon dioxide emissions and hence increases carbon emissions, which in turn exacerbates the global warming. Global warming has received widespread attention all around the world nowadays and food waste is one of its main causes.

In addition, a large amount of leftovers have an impact on family environment. We usually put leftovers in refrigerators when we do not consume all the food or we usually put unwanted food directly into trash cans. Nowadays, most households use ordinary trash cans. If the food in trash cans is not processed for a long time, it will deteriorate, cause unpleasant odors and attract pests such as flies and mosquitoes, especially in the hot summer. When these pests appear in large numbers, they will affect the health of family members and cause illness.

It can be seen from the above that food waste in all aspects is a potential hazard to people. How should we deal with this hazard?

The first is to eliminate waste. Although people's material conditions become richer and shortage of food is rare, the traditional virtues of saving should not be abandoned. We should prepare just enough food every day. Throwing away too many leftovers not only wastes food but also pollutes the environment.

To reduce leftovers, we should get into the habit of preparing just enoungh food for each meal and also use food waste disposers. Food waste disposers can break leftovers into particles and then discharge them through the sewer, which avoids the harm caused by food spoilage. The waste water flowing out of the sewer will be purified again by the waste water treatment plant, so the impact on the environment is minimal.

Finally, it is recommended that we should not waste food every day for the sake of family environmental hygiene and use food waste disposers to ensure the timely disposal of food waste.
